Ballroom dancing

This past Saturday I took a beginners' class in ballroom dancing. The three dances were the Rumba, Foxtrot, and Tango. To my great surprise, I really enjoyed myself! I expected to have fun simply because of the company I was with, but the dancing itself was more enjoyable than I expected it to be. After two and a half hours I was pretty tired, and some of the steps were getting away from me -- I completely forgot the Foxtrot steps during our end-of-session recap! But that is pretty common, from what I gather. I didn't look down at my feet once -- something many of the other men had trouble with -- and only once or twice came close to stepping on my partner's feet. She's much more experienced at this than I am, and seemed pretty pleased by how I did.

Now I'm looking forward to attending an actual dance where we can put these to some use. I liked the Rumba the best, and even went so far as to practice it on my own the following morning, before I blew out my back. (More on that in another post.)

Slow(left-front), slow(right-front), quick(left-side), quick(right-side). (Foxtrot)

I couldn't help but appreciate the news that you enjoyed ballroom dancing. I have a great passion for it myself.

Congratulations on not looking down at you feet too. That's one of my biggest pet peeves in partners and it's one of those things that new guys have a tendedncy to do. Do keep up with it!

I did have fun, and we plan to take more lessons and attend a few dances. She has some friends a little bit north of here who are very into it, so when we have time we plan to visit them and go dancing. We'll see how well I do in a crowded room!

when it gets crowded it's a bit like bumper cars except you're safe and us women get beaten up. All in all though it's actually very fun.

Are you from Camp Hill, Pennsylvania? I may have met you years ago. The DF I knew liked writing horror stories.
